2006 Milwaukee Irish Fest
The 2006 Milwaukee Irish Fest included a special live broadcast held on Galway Bay FM back to Ireland.
Cultural components at the festival included the Ward Irish Music Archives' exhibit about The Irish in Film which featured a talk from Larry McCaffrey. Other exhibits at the fest were Prehistoric Music Ireland, Project Kells, Irish weaving with Beth Moran, and Maire O’Flatharta knitting Aran sweaters. The art of crystal cutting and More Than 40 Shades of Green: The Diverse Landscape of Ireland were two new exhibits.
Entertainers in 2006 included Tommy Makem, David Munnelly, Gaelic Storm, Ragus, The Bridies, Irish Rovers, Grada, The Elders, Le Vent do Nord, Enter the Haggis, Quagmyre, Young Dubliners, Michael O’Suilleabhain & Mel Mercier, John McGivern, and The Fuchsia Band. Dancers included Cashel Dennehy Dancers, Glencastle Irish dancers, Trinity Irish Dancers, McMenamin Irish Dancers, Caledonian Scottish Dancers, Gillan School of Highland Dance, and Kinsella Irish Dancers.
The Celtic Roots Showcase focused on Nova Scotia, and featured entertainers were Beolach, J.P. Cormier, The Cottars, Dave Gunning, Jerry Holland, Mary Jane Lamond, Buddy MacDonald, and Dave MacIssac.
