1989 Milwaukee Irish Fest
The Thursday night Ceili Kick-off was reintroduced at the 1989 Milwaukee Irish Fest. WLUM sponsored a tent for teens, and Mercy High School, Pius XI High School, and the Mongans all had reunions.
The Cultural Village theme was The Irish Hearth and Home. Exhibits included an Irish Cottage, Irish Recipes, Cottage Crafts, The Jaunting Cart, William Butler Yeats, St. Brigid, Turf.
Entertainers included Patrick Street, Puck Fair, Schooner Fare, Barley Bree, Frank Patterson, Brendan Grace, Carlton Irish Showband, Cherish the Ladies, Clancy Brothers with Robbie O’Connell, De Danann, Boys of the Lough, Craobh Rua, The Armagh Rhymers, Mary McGonigle, and Annette Griffin. Dance schools at the 1989 festival included the McGing Irish Dancers, Trinity Irish Dancers, and Cashel Dennehy Irish Dancers.
