1988 Milwaukee Irish Fest
The Harp Stage was introduced at the 1988 Milwaukee Irish Fest, as was the idea of a cultural village for a pub and our cultural and historical areas. The Irish Fest youth program also started, and an Irish Film Festival was held in the Theatre Tent. A storyteller contest was added and the O’Malley clan had a reunion.
Cultural exhibits included: In Dublin’s Fair City, Illuminated Manuscripts, Irish Dog Breeds, and St. Patrick’s Church.
Entertainers included The Wolfe Tones, Danny Doyle, Barley Bree, Puck Fair, Schooner Fare, John Gary, Capercaillie, Patrick Street, Barleycorn, Cherish the Ladies. Dancer schools at the festival were the Walsh Irish Dancers, Caledonian Scottish Dancers, The Knocknagow Irish Dancers, Cashel Irish Dancers and the Trinity Irish Dancers.
