1986 Milwaukee Irish Fest
In 1986, Milwaukee Irish Fest's cultural and historical area featured exhibits on Irish folklore, The Irish in America, modern Irish stained glass and Irish newspapers. The freckle contest was hosted by Maureen O’Looney of WSBC-Radio Chicago.
Entertainers included Tommy Makem and Liam Clancy, Barley Bree, Schooner Fare, Josie O’Donnell, Dennis Day, The Chieftains, De Danann with Mary Black and Delores Keane, Tannahill Weavers, Cahal Dunne, Jimmy Kennedy, Noel Henry’s Irish Showband, Patrick Ball and Moloney, Keane & O’Connell. Dancers included the Mayer School of Irish Music and Dance, Chicago Set Dancers, Trinity Irish Dancers, Caledonian Scottish Dancers and Cashel Irish Dancers.
Other festival contests included the leprechaun costume contest, kid’s red hair contest, Irish trivia contest and the pipe smoking contest.

- Tickets: $5 advance; $6 at the gate for adults; $2 youngsters 7-12 and seniors. Free for kids 6 and under and anyone wearing a leprechaun costume.
