1983 Milwaukee Irish Fest

During the third year of Milwaukee Irish Fest, we introduced the Ceili Area where dancing commenced, pipe bands performed and Irish dog breeds paraded. Cultural exhibits included displays on the Celts and Celtic Art and a needlework exhibit. Genealogy information was provided. Urban Park, just north of Henry Maier Festival Park was used for Gaelic football and hurling with teams from Chicago.

The O’Lowenbrau Open dart tournament was sponsored by Miller Brands and a purse of $7,500 was offered in the event hosted by the Greater Milwaukee Darters.

Entertainers included Schooner Fare, Tommy Makem and Liam Clancy, Green Fields of America, John Gary, Dennis Day, Mary McGonigle, Boys of the Lough, Paddy Reilly, James Keane and Robbie O’Connell, The Tannahill Weavers and Touchstone. Dances schools included Cashel Irish Dancers, Trinity Irish Dancers and Tully Irish Dancers.
